Pub Accommodation in the Lake District
What used to be called Inns in the old days are now more likely to be called pubs with rooms, or some of them have simply maintained the old description of Inn.
Not only are they reasonably priced, offer great food and beer, they also provide comfortable accommodation in traditional surroundings.
Most of these Inns or pubs in the Lake District still offer the traditional pub feeling with low beamed ceilings, open fires and great hospitality and fine ales.
You will have noticed that many pubs and inns have pictorial signs outside. Richard II was responsible for the growth of inn signs, as his written law of 1393 stated that all ale houses had to identify themselves to the aleconners who tested the measures and quality. However, as most people could not read, pictures were painted and carved - many of which have remained to this day.
So if you are looking for a holiday in the Lake District full of history that combines the price and informality of a pub with the high cuisine and setting of a more expensive hotel, then a pub accommodation holiday is for you.
