Travelling
to the Lake
District is very easy.
No
matter which direction your heading from theres plenty of diffrent
modes of transport you can use.
UK
based visitors travelling by car from the North, get onto the M6
Motorway and head for junction 38 Penrith, this will take you into
the North Lakes. |

Towns
such as Keswick, Cockermouth, Egremont and Maryport and junction 36 Kendal
/ South Lakes, for people going to the South Lakes, towns such as Windermere,
Bowness, Ambleside, Grasmere and Coniston, junction 36 is also used for
traffic heading to Barrow in Furness a peninsula on the south western
corner of Cumbria.
Travelling
by train best stop is Oxenholme station on the edge of Kendal a famous
market town on the edge of the Lake District National Park, the station
is on the west coast mainline within easy reach of the main London and
Scotland stations and has connecting trains to Windermere, there is also
a straight through train from Windermere to Manchester Airport.
Coach travellers
need not worry about the route, just relax sit back, you will know when
you have arrived in the Lake District the scenery will tell you, the main
coach tour operators run to many areas a few major stops are Bowness on
Windermere, Keswick, theres even a tour running to the Kendal shoe store
at K Village on the banks of the River Kent.
Bus
travellers can get here from any part of the country, theres bus depots
in most towns and city's throughout the UK, some major companies actually
run long haul bus routes from Scotland to London visiting major towns
and areas on route to their destination.
