a town that is well known as the gateway to the Lake District, a mile
and a half from Lake Windermere itself, arguably the
largest of the towns, many shops, pubs and tourist attractions, from Windermere

Bowness-on-Windermere,
a mile and a half down the road from Windermere village, situated on the
banks of Lake Windermere, a definate must visit is Bowness Bay,
Lake Windermere cruises make it possible to travel South on the
lake to Lakeside / Newby Bridge, take an island cruise around Lake Windermere
or travel to the North of the lake to Waterhead and Ambleside.
Within the village itself are many attractions, Beatrix Potter museum

Ambleside
is the next stop on our tour of villages, situated to the Nothern end
of Lake Windermere, a bustling town with many attractions, numerous
outdoor clothing retailers,(some people locally say too many) Ambleside
is a well known base for mountaineering, mountain biking and hiking around
the many fells. Ambleside also has many different types of accommodation
to offer the tourist, from luxury self catering to small guest houses
