A
well known hotel and restaurant is Miller Howe, situated on the banks
of Lake Windermere
in Bowness.
There
are so many attractions that tourists, day visitors and holiday makers
have a great choice with which to fill their day.
The
Bowness Steam Museum is another attraction on the banks
of the lake.
On
the lake itself there are the cruises which can either be used just as
a means of getting from one attraction to another – in the most
enjoyable way – or as a delightful way of discovering the charms
and views of the banks of the lake. There are also many enjoyable walks
that are connected to the cruises network.
Sailings
between Ambleside,
Bowness and Lakeside are every day, with times changing to accommodate
the different seasons. Cruises can be combined to include a trip on the
Haverthwaite railway or a visit to the Aquarium of the Lakes. Evening
cruises in the season are exceptionally enjoyable, you can enjoy the lake
and see the sun set over the Langdales.
A
little further up the village are the curio shops, and more cafes, restaurants
and sandwich bars, and the Beatrix Potter Attraction and coffee shop –
a place well worth a visit.
All
in all, Bowness offers everything that a visitor may need and
enjoy, with plenty of shops in which to purchase a gift for those back
home or a memento of your happy time in Cumbria
& the Lake District.
