Crummock Water

Crummock Water Lake District Lakes & Waters

 

Description: Crummock Water, in the Buttermere valley, is 2,5 miles long and has crystal clear waters and a rocky bottom. The lake is flanked on both sides by steep fellsides of Skiddaw slate, that offer breathtaking views o the surrounding landscape. The lake is easily accessed through the Lorton Vale area in the east and the Red Pike in the west.

Crummock Water is owned by the National Trust, the location of Crummock Water makes it a quiet, peaceful location. Water sports are also banned on this lake, but small boats are permitted and must be carried to the shore by hand. Crummock Water is about double the length of Buttermere and is a lot deeper. Visitors come here to walk the wonderfull fells, including, Red Pike.
